On Saturday, March 10th, 2007, at 3:00pm, Young Event Planners hosted a concert of incredible volunteer young musicians at the Bristol Chapel followed by a reception at Thayer Lounge, both at the Westminster Choir College in Princeton. Through this event we raised over $4000 for Camp Quality, a camp for children with cancer, and The Discovery Orchestra.
The musicians who played at this event were Carl Aquino, Julian Edgren, Jake Fridkis, Mark de Guzman, Sam Lavery, Saraswathi Shukla, Andrew Sun, Farshad Tahvildar-Zadeh, and Molly Zhu. These musicians have won numerous competitions, and some have even played at Carnegie Hall. All the piano musicians have been studying under the Russian piano teacher, Larissa Korkina, through the Westminster Choir College Program. At this event they played concertos, duets, solos, and trios with music that includes that of Mozart, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev.
No fee was charged for attending the event, but donations were accepted for both Camp Quality, a camp for children with cancer, and The Discovery Orchestra. Both charities are 501c3 organizations. Camp Quality has no salaried employees so all the money raised goes to improving the camps, and George Marriner Maull, Artistic Director of The Discovery Orchestra, has helped, as a volunteer, the Young Event Planners with planning many of their past music events.
